Karl Bradl and Robert Gerstner established their find-box store on Christopher Street, Aedes de Venustas , as a premier provenience for elegant and avant-garde fragrances years ago. So it comes as no rock that the aroma experts have now created a namesake Signature Eau de Parfum. Enlisting the forbear of the master perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour, whose previous credits count collaborations with L’Artisan Parfumeur, the duo decided against a traditional odour pyramid structure, which features top, base and bottom notes, in favor of a more even equation: hints of rhubarb and Madagascan vetiver meld in unison with comical incense of wood and leaf. The fragrance is contained in a decadent burgundy magnifying glass decanter with a gold atomizer and crest, a suitable match for the upon’s grand, gilded interior. A candle ($85) in a identical scent will be available on May 1. Get a whiff!
