Eleven teams participated in Pedaling for Parkinson's on Nov. 5. In another cell, doctors gave advice to more than 300 people affected by the bug.

"It's very rewarding to see the folks taking an initiative," said Dr. Jay Albert, an contrive and physiologist whose research indicated a correlation between exercise of the lower extremities and reduced symptoms.

Albert explained the belief of Parkinson's and "why assisted exercise may be beneficial."

He found that Parkinson's patients participation reduced tremors, clearer thinking and better balance after exercising, with some results noticed at the drop of a hat, said Doreen Sutherland of Neuro Challenge, the event's supporter, whose mission is to provide awareness of Parkinson's and fight the disease through its programs.

With the in money raised at the cycle-a-thon, Neuro Challenge will provide scholarships for Parkinson's patients to pay attention to weekly spinning classes that will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays.

The classes are designed for people with Parkinson's malady, Sutherland said.
